Welcome. My name is Rosemary Cowan. I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist. I help people to address the causes of problems, reduce symptoms, and live more fully. My private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is in Islington, London. I also practise in Maida Vale, London.
I have been a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since September 2010 so I have more than 2 years and 8 months of post-qualification experience of assisting clients. In addition, I gained years of experience of working with clients in order to qualify. I work with Individuals and Couples. I'm experienced in working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and helping with the particular challenges they face. I have academic research experience in Couple Relationships.
As well as being a Psychotherapist in private practice in Islington, London, I have experience as a Charity Psychotherapist.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
After an initial consultation in Islington, London, there is no requirement to continue if you do not wish to. You and I may use the safe space to explore the particular dilemmas for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to be open to change.
As a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist, I am trained and experienced in using Couple Therapy and Humanistic and Integrative Therapy to assist people to live more fully.
Couple Therapy
My work with couples is designed to help each person step into the other's place and remember what you appreciate about each other. Building on this foundation, we will explore how best to make your relationship more satisfying and fulfilling - bearing in mind this may mean amicable separation. Generally 6 to 18 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Humanistic and Integrative Therapy
We will be exploring your view of the world and how you came to hold those beliefs. The aim is to alleviate your suffering and also to integrate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects in order to develop your inner resources, and potential and to increase your well-being. Generally 6 to 24 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
