Clinical Experience in Counselling

I work short to long term with individual adults. I work with private clients (since 2002). I worked as an addiction counsellor on the Camden Minor Tranquilliser Project for MIND (1998 to 2002). I facilitated group work for Bromley Drugs Programme (2004), and worked as a smoking cessation counsellor for Quitline, the NHS Pregnancy Smoking Helpline and the Zyban Helpline (2001 to 2003). I also work as a diabetes counsellor (since 2001).

How I Work

My theoretical approaches are person-centred, in that my acceptance of a person enables them to come to terms with difficult emotions and develop inner resources, and existentialist, in that existential theory maintains life has no essential given meaning, meaning is to be found or created by a willingness to face one’s life and problems.

Clinical Training in Counselling

I qualified with a Diploma in Counselling (2000). I also have a Diploma in Smoking Cessation (2002). I am currently working towards accreditation with the BACP. I undertook training in email counselling with a major UK charity (2000). Since then I have been providing email counselling with another major UK charity.
