What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
After an initial consultation in West End, London, there is no obligation to continue if you prefer not to. You and I can use the safe space to assess the current or unresolved past difficulties for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. I will then be able to ascertain if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to develop your insight of your thoughts and how they may increase or decrease your symptoms. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to work collaboratively.
As a British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) Registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy to assist people to alleviate their distress.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) aims to give you structure, pragmatic ways of dealing with difficult feelings in everyday life, and reduce present day distress. Generally 1 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy is grounded on the principle that early life experiences shape a sense of oneself and others, with a huge part of it happening outside consciousness. Psychodynamic Therapy aims to get to the source of difficulties and enable people to live more fully. Generally 12 to 120 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
