Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist with consulting rooms in Central London and Highgate. I can offer a safe and confidential space in which to explore whatever it is that may be troubling you. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is based on the idea that we unconsciously repeat patterns from our past in our current lives. Sometimes we may be aware already of these patterns, but at other times they may be more hidden from consciousness. These thoughts and emotions by their very nature are deep rooted and often can be unhelpful and destructive. In our work together my aim is to try to explore and understand these less conscious aspects of the thoughts, feelings and behaviour which may be contributing to the distress and suffering that has led you to seek help. I do not offer advice, or tell you what to do, or what not to do. Instead, together we try to understand the difficulties as you describe them and make sense of their meaning for you. In this way, I believe that lasting change can then become possible. I have experience in working across a wide spectrum of issues including difficulties arising because of abuse or trauma, bereavement, depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, relationship problems, difficulties with anger, problems connected to infertility, eating disorders and problems relating to obsessive behaviours or thinking.

What to Expect during Psychotherapy

After an initial conversation on the telephone, I offer a preliminary consultation. This gives us an opportunity to meet, and also to begin talking about what is troubling you, and to think together whether psychotherapy would be helpful. There is no obligation to on-going work at this stage. Sometimes it can be necessary to meet a number of times before deciding whether to go ahead. If we do decide to go ahead then a regular day and time will be discussed.

Clinical Qualifications in Psychotherapy

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Psychotherapist since 2012
  • British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) Registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist since 2010
  • MA Psychotherapy - Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust London (UK) 2008

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Code of Ethics of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
