More Detail

6+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I am Sean. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their mental health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves alcohol dependence, anger and bereavement, and the particular obstacles experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Waterloo, London or Spelthorne, Ashford.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood and/or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable ways of managing.
