Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a male counsellor also working as a coach.
In addition, I run workshops for counsellors and trainee counsellors in Sand Tray Therapy, Trauma, Bereavement, Sudden Death and Disaster.
I am a member of the BACP and the BABCP as well as an accredited member of the BHA (British Humanist Association) working as an officiant representative for the Coventry and Warwickshire area. I am also a member of ISTSS (International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies) and the EWTS (European Workshops on Traumatic Stress).
I strive to continue to develop my professional knowledge in order to provide a professional, ethical and caring service to counselling clients.
What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic and Existential Counselling, a certificate in CBT and a certificate in evidence based therapy from the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and the Oxford Trauma and Stress centre. I am also trained in EMDR.I work as an integrative counsellor involving person centred, humanistic, existential and cognitive behaviour therapy with an evidence based approach, as well as from a transactional analysis perspective all depending on the issues and concerns of the client.
I also offer EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing). EMDR was originally designed to treat traumatic or 'dysfunctional' memories and experiences and their psychological consequences and although the procedure has increasingly been used to treat a wide range of experiential based disorders, e.g. anxiety, panic attacks, sexual dysfunction, work performance, panic disorder, pain etc, it has primarily been used in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have trained in Canada, Croatia and Amsterdam as well as at the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and have been a Trauma Therapist with Assist Trauma Care in Rugby for three years.
Additional Information
An Early Intervention / Watchful Waiting Programme is also available to companies in the aftermath of trauma within the workplace and its potential effects therein within 24 hours notice. Fees differ for individual EMDR sessions also early intervention programmes for companies.
I also offer self exploration and reflection for personal development as well as body and mind relaxation meditation techniques that are useable and can be realistically used in a busy lifestyle.
