Clinical Experience in Counselling

Welcome. My name is Claudio Mendes. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and a UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind) Counsellor. I work with people to help them make sense of the thoughts and emotions they experience. My private Counselling practice is located in Clapham Common, London. I also practise in Borough, London and Shoreditch, London.

I'm experienced in working with men and people from different backgrounds and cultures, and dealing with the particular concerns they encounter. My specialist experience is in Bereavement.

In addition to being a Counsellor in private practice in Clapham Common, London, I have experience as a Charity, College, Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Counsellor.

What to Expect during Counselling

After an initial consultation in Clapham Common, London, there is no obligation to proceed if you decide not to. You and I can use the safe space to consider the current concerns for which you are considering Counselling. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to ascertain if my Counselling practice is appropriate for you.

The aim of my Counselling practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment, concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported, develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept and tailor therapy to you and your needs. To get the most from Counselling you will need to be able to be open to change, participate, speak openly with me and reflect and work collaboratively.

As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and UK Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) Registered Independent (UKRCP Reg Ind) Counsellor, I am highly trained and experienced in using Brief Therapy, Client Centred Therapy, Cognitive Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy to assist people to live more fully.

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor since 2008
  • Advanced Diploma Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counselling - Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) London (UK) 2008
