Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Welcome. My name is Erica Whitfield. I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Core Process Therapist. My private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is located in Bath.

I have been a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since September 1995 so I have more than 17 years and 8 months of post-registration experience of working with clients. I work with Individuals. My expertise is in Personal Growth, Personal Relationships, Self Determination and Sexual Abuse.

As well as being a Psychotherapist in private practice in Bath, I have experience as a Charity, Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Psychotherapist.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

After an initial appointment in Bath, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. We will use the time to clarify the current issues for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.

The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment, concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported, develop your insight of your thoughts and how they may increase or decrease your symptoms and develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to be open to change, speak openly with me and reflect and work collaboratively.

As a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Core Process Therapist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Core Process Therapy to assist people to get through the difficulties they experience.

Core Process Therapy

Core Process Therapy is concerned with a healing process, where an awareness of the body, its feelings, and the content and states of mind that arise, are used to explore the nature of self and suffering. Generally 6 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Core Process Therapist since September 1995
  • Advanced Diploma Core Process Psychotherapy - Karuna Institute (KI) Newton Abbot (UK) 1995
  • Diploma Counselling - Lincoln Clinic and Centre for Psychotherapy London (UK) 1982

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Code of Ethics of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Code of Ethics of the Karuna Institute (KI) Newton Abbot.
