What to Expect during Psychotherapy
The first step to resolving any of issues is to talk about them and make some changes. After all, tomorrow will only be the same as today unless you make a change of some kind. A change might just be talking openly or it might be learning to overcome a particular barrier in your life. And this is where I can help you. I am a trained counsellor and ensure that all my client meetings are in a secure place for you to talk openly about your concerns in a way that is not usually possible with family, friends or work colleagues. I typically have a first meeting where we review your personal situation and what you would like to achieve. From this, I can put together a plan for us to work on together going forward. I use listening skills and empathy to help people explore their concerns in a non-judgmental way. I aim to create a relationship of exploration and openness. I see myself as a companion on a journey of discovery and believe that the relationship that the therapist and client build together is the place where that journey begins. Many people have areas of their lives that they feel are not working as they used to or have become aware of difficulties that are getting in the way of the lives they want to lead. So I have an integrative counselling approach that uses influences and tools from a number of models to create an individual style for each person.Clinical Qualifications in Psychotherapy
