Clinical Experience in Counselling

In counselling, I offer a special kind of listening space to people. My approach is person centred: based on the belief that everyone has unique powers of growth and self healing. This includes you! As a counsellor my main role is to understand, value and be honest with my clients. Occasionally, I also draw on ideas and techniques from other counselling approaches, where these will benefit the client. I won't wave a magic wand over your life, but I will help you find your own answers. I have worked as a counsellor in a number of organisations: for a national bereavement charity, for the NHS, in a generic therapy centre and for a commercial firm providing workplace counselling.

What to Expect during Counselling

Benefits of Counselling - These vary for each person, but often include things like: insight into the cause of problems, increased self acceptance, confidence and self esteem, better ways of handling emotions, improved relationships, mastery of skills for stress management and relaxation, improved decision making, and a greater sense of general wellbeing.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor since 2009
  • Advanced Diploma Counselling - University of Strathclyde (UK) 2007

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
