What to Expect during Counselling and Psychology
After an initial assessment in Euston, London, there is no obligation to proceed if you decide not to. We will use the time to assess the particular challenges for which you are considering Counselling or Psychology. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You and I will then be able to ascertain if my Counselling and Psychology practice is appropriate for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychology practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment. To get the most from Counselling and Psychology you will need to be able to work collaboratively.
As a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Counselling Psychologist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy to assist people to get through the difficulties they experience.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT states that feelings are responses, not to events that take place but, to our interpretation of those events. By challenging thoughts, CBT aims to help individuals restructure thinking and overcome distress. Generally 8 to 24 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Often experiences from earlier life are remembered consciously or sub-consciously and repeated in future relationships. Here the aim is to understand the influences of the past to better shape the present and future. Generally 12 to 24 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
