Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Welcome. I'm Rosie. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I help people to address the causes of problems, reduce symptoms, and live more fully. My private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is based in Westbury on Trym, Bristol.

A Counsellor and Psychotherapist since September 1997, I have 15 years of experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work with Individuals, Couples and Groups. I'm experienced in working with people from corporate backgrounds, and assisting with the particular challenges they face. I have academic and clinical research experience in Eating Disorders.

As well as being a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice in Westbury on Trym, Bristol, I have experience as a School Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

After a preliminary meeting in Westbury on Trym, Bristol, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. As Client and Therapist, we will use the safe space to examine the current or unresolved past difficulties for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.

The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to work collaboratively.

As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am highly trained and experienced in using Behaviour Therapy, Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Integrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Transactional Analysis (TA) to assist people to live more fully.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a good way of understanding how your thinking leads you to behave in certain ways, particularly in response to your feelings. Becoming more aware of the behaviour patterns you have developed, and being able to change these where necessary, can help you improve your quality of life. Generally 4 to 6 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy is a useful way of understanding how you relate to other people and how you think about yourself, by realising the influences and conditioning you have experienced whilst growing up. Having more understanding can then assist you in making any changes needed to improve your life. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

TA may help you notice when you are stuck in a particular dynamic in relationships with others, and find yourself reacting in the same way. Becoming aware of this helps to take charge of problems in a rational way rather than being led by emotions. Generally 4 to 6 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • Clinical Doctorate Psychotherapy - Metanoia Institute (MET) London with Middlesex University (UK) 2007
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2000

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Additional Information

As a Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am empathic, gently challenging, non judgemental and passionate about what I do.
