Clinical Experience in Psychotherapy
I have been working in private practice as a psychotherapist and counsellor, registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), for about fifteen years. Previous to that I worked in psychiatric hospitals for ten years as a music therapist with patients who had mental health problems. I have also worked as a counsellor at Relate, working with individuals and couples. As a network counsellor I work for BUPA and EAR in their Employment Assistance Programmes.
What to Expect during Psychotherapy
I integrate a humanistic approach with psychodynamic aspects using the skills I have gained from many different trainings like for example body psychotherapy training at Chiron Centre in London, psychodynamic solution focused training at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation, and Trauma work with Babette Rothchild. My approach is therefore to meet the clients in a safe place and allow them to explore their issues and find different ways and new solutions. Creativity in everyone's life is a particular aspect for exploration. The way I work is client led and my contributions will take into account what might work for this individual.I continue to train throughout my working life and I am in ongoing regular supervision.
