Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am an experienced British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I provide counselling and psychotherapy in a private and comfortable consulting room in Redhill. I offer short or long-term therapy, depending on what my clients want and need from their therapy. I work in an approachable and relational way, using my experience and knowledge of various theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy in order to help each client as an individual. I see people of all ages in my therapy practice, from adolescents to adults including older people. I also see couples who are having relationship difficulties, including same-sex couples, and have worked with all kinds of issues and problems. I have spent some years working for Employee Assistance Programmes, who use my services for short-term therapy for their clients. I also teach counselling and psychotherapy, supervise colleagues and carry out research in the field of counselling and psychotherapy.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

I work face to face in an approachable and relational style and my training in person-centred, psychodynamic and existential approaches to counselling and psychotherapy gives me a number of theoretical bases to work from. My person-centred training means that I can offer an empathic, accepting and congruent approach, while my psychodynamic training allows me to explore underlying, often unconscious processes with my clients. Existential issues include fears around loneliness and isolation. These issues are often difficult for people to think about outside therapy, but affect their everyday living and their relationships. Most importantly, however, I hope to help my clients to understand themselves better as individuals and to improve their relationships with others. This may mean working either short-term or long-term according to what the client needs and wants from their therapy.
