Clinical Experience in Counselling

Hello. My name is Aileen George. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) and Registered Counsellor. I help people to address the problems in their lives. My private Counselling practice is based in Fleet. I also practise in Odiham, Hook.

I have been a BACP Accredited Counsellor since April 2012 (Registered since January 2013) so I have more than 1 year and 1 month of post-accreditation experience of working with clients. I also gained years of experience of working with clients in order to qualify. I work with Individuals. I am highly experienced in providing Counselling to people from different backgrounds and cultures, and helping with the particular issues they encounter.

As well as being a Counsellor in private practice in Fleet, I have experience as a GP Surgery Counsellor.

What to Expect during Counselling

After an initial appointment in Fleet, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. As Client and Therapist, we will use the time to focus on the personal issues for which you require Counselling. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling practice is right for you.

The aim of my Counselling practice is to concentrate on your concerns so you feel heard, respected and supported. To get the most from Counselling you will need to be able to work collaboratively.

As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) and Registered Counsellor, I am trained and experienced in using Couple Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Humanistic and Integrative Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Transactional Analysis (TA) to help people who experience problematic thoughts, feelings or behaviour.

Couple Therapy

Individuals in a relationship bring different expectations, beliefs and behaviours which are often learned from families. At times of stress you may revert to these and they can be misunderstood and cause stress to your partner. I aim to help you to understand these and work towards improving communication. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Gestalt Therapy

Humans live in relation to other people and cultures. Gestalt Therapy aims to help make sense of difficulties in the context in which they exist. Understanding how your upbringing, relationships and social groups affect the way you feel can help you be aware of choices. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Humanistic and Integrative Therapy

Humanistic and Integrative Therapy involves fitting therapeutic approaches to you as an individual and the problems you are experiencing. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Person Centred Therapy

By offering a warm, safe, non-judgemental space I hope to help you discover thoughts and feelings that have previously been outside of conscious awareness. As self-awareness develops you may feel more empowered and able to make choices based on what is right for you. Generally 6 to 18 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Psychodynamic Therapy

The unconscious way you relate to others (learned from past relationships) can sometimes cause problems and distress. By exploring this I aim to help you bring thoughts, feelings and behaviours into conscious awareness and explore options for change. Generally 6 to 18 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

As a child you learnt how to be from those around you. Some of these lessons may be unhelpful to you in adulthood, limiting you and locking you into negative patterns of relating. By becoming more self-aware you may choose to be more proactive rather than reactive. Generally 6 to 12 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor since April 2012 (Registered since January 2013)
  • Advanced Diploma Person Centred Counselling and Therapy - University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) (UK) 2007

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
