Clinical Experience in Counselling and Psychotherapy

Welcome. My name is Allan Gois. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) and Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I work with people to help them make sense of the thoughts and emotions they experience. My private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is based in Islington, London.

I have been a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist since May 2010 (Registered since May 2010) so I have over 3 years of post-accreditation experience of working with clients. In addition, I gained years of experience of working with clients as part of my training. I work with Individuals. I'm experienced in working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and helping with the particular difficulties they face. My specialist experience is in Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Low Self Esteem.

As well as being a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice in Islington, London, I have experience as a NHS Hospital Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I have also worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Brazil.

What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy

After an initial consultation in Islington, London, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. We can take the opportunity to discuss the particular issues for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is appropriate for you.

The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment, develop your insight of your thoughts and how they may increase or decrease your symptoms and develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to speak openly with me and reflect.

As a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) and Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am trained and experienced in using Group Analytic Therapy, Psychoanalytic Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy to assist people to get through the difficulties they experience.

Psychoanalytic Therapy

In Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy we will work together to explore and understand your feelings, thoughts, beliefs and anxieties, trying to uncover whatever may still be unconscious in what is affecting your life. I aim to help you to make sense of your experiences and gain insight on yourself. Generally 50 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.

Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) Counsellor and Psychotherapist since May 2010 (Registered since May 2010)
  • MA Psychoanalytic Studies - Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust London (UK) 2010

I am committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I abide by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
