What to Expect during Counselling and Psychotherapy
After a preliminary meeting in Cardiff, there is no obligation to continue if you decide not to. As Client and Therapist, we will take the opportunity to clarify the particular difficulties for which you are considering Counselling or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to decide if my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is right for you.The aim of my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice is to attend to what brings you to therapy in a confidential and focused environment, develop your knowledge of causes of concerns so you discover what to change or accept, tailor therapy to you and your needs and work towards ending therapy when it is right for you. To get the most from Counselling and Psychotherapy you will need to be able to be open to change, participate, speak openly with me and reflect and work collaboratively.
As a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist, I am trained and experienced in using Humanistic and Integrative Therapy to help people who experience problematic thoughts, feelings or behaviour.
Humanistic and Integrative Therapy
I draw on a range of different approaches to working with my clients, tailoring the approach to their particular problems, needs and personalities. My approach is relational. That is, I work to develop a relationship with my clients so that we can resolve their problems together in a joint enterprise. Generally 8 to 100 sessions: depends on issue and other factors.
Clinical Qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy
