Clinical Experience in Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
I am a qualified Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as the Health Professions Council (HPC). Since completion of my degree in Clinical Psychology, I have completed further specialist training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Family work.
I have experience working in a broad range of services. I have worked in several services providing psychotherapy to victims of trauma and abuse. I have also worked in the physical health sector with individuals with physical illness or disability. The majority of my experience is within adult mental health services providing psychotherapy to individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health difficulties.
In addition to my private work I am currently working in an NHS specialist service in Surrey providing psychotherapy to individuals and families with severe and often enduring mental illness.
As I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), I abide by the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct which is aimed at ensuring that the therapeutic environment is safe, professional and confidential.
What to Expect during Counselling, Psychology and Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is an interpersonal treatment that involves talking with a trained professional about difficulties that you may be experiencing in any area of your life. It can be useful if you want to explore a specific problem or concern, for example stress, anxiety, depression, work issues, relationship problems, life changes, bereavement, or trauma. It can also be helpful if you are feeling stuck in your life and experiencing a general lack of purpose and fulfillment. Therapy is not only useful for addressing difficulties but can also be helpful if you just want to learn more about yourself, make positive changes in your life and achieve personal growth.Psychotherapy provides a safe space in which to explore feelings, gain an understanding of your difficulties and develop better ways of managing or relieving painful or difficult symptoms. It can also help you to recognize long term patterns of thinking and behaving, gain perspective on the effect of past events on your current relationships and make permanent changes in your life. I aim to provide a supportive and confidential environment in which we can jointly explore your concerns or needs.
I offer evening and weekend psychotherapy services at various locations in South West London and Surrey.
