Clinical Supervision in London
By Dr. Adrienne Baker PhD Psychotherapy UKCP RegDr. Adrienne Baker offers Counselling, Psychotherapy
I offer clinical supervision, weekly or fortnightly, to practising psychotherapists.
My
theoretical framework is psychodynamic but also includes insights from
family therapy, emphasising the context of a client’s world, the value
system of their culture and the perceived pressures from family and
peers.
In
supervision we explore the parallel processes – between client and
therapist and between therapist and supervisee – considering issues of
power and vulnerability. We also consider ethical issues and the
significance of the therapeutic frame
Supervision
is seen very much as a ‘container’ in which, as in Winnicott's model,
the supervisor can ‘hold’ the supervisee so that the client’s pain can
be experienced, understood and together reflected upon.
